Malaysia Trip III: The 3rd International Agriculture Student Symposium (IASS)

Symposium Just Begun

It's been started here for next several days I and friends stay in Bangi, a small town in Selangor near Putrajaya (Malaysia Capital for Governmental Affairs). Our first day is registration of participant along with other participants from China (Nanjing Agricultural University), Thailand (Kasetsart University), Japan (Ibaraki University and Niigata University), Russia (Chechen State University), Canada (University of Guelph), Indonesia (IPB, Padjajaran University, Riau University, and Diponegoro University), and host country Malaysia (UPM, University Malaysia Trengganu, and University Sultan Zainal Abidin). It looks so hectic the committee have to prepare participant arrival, growing number compared with previous event.

The second and third day of our stay are visiting some UPM laboratories, institution or any other research institution. The most exciting is exactly to Putrajaya where the atmosphere felt quite different. Understandable since previous destination seems so official. Though this governmental area is the second of mine to be here since my first visit in the mid of 2010.

Just few hours before departing to the center of Putrajaya river, we all delegates visit Ministry of Agirculture And Agro-Based Industry hundreds meter away still located within Putrajaya city. Information of current development of Malaysia particularly agriculture is barely exposed through presentation from the due persons as well as captured over mini exhibition in the first floor. Moreover, the neighbouring countries agro resources showed off though few portion, an idea to put Malaysia as center of agricultural information, likely here to point out tropical agricultural cuts off the boundary of countryside. A thourough sign of vibrating resource in Indonesia seems to be always well observed and none of indeed suprising realm for the second time of mine to see even more some of Indonesia agricultural resources exhibited as well as few from India and Thailand. "Kuda Sumbawa" figured over a medim size of poster which is orinigally from my hometown, visitors can see the brief information here. Flashing light shimmers to wake me up how Indonesia should appropriately be more ambitious by the way of promotion and not to missing concerning of local resource research.

Almost hal of the day spent off here in Putrajaya, we depart to UPM campus for a short campus tour subsequently returning back to hostel in Bangi. Tonight we have to be ready at Panggung Percubaan (inside UPM campus) for Malaysian cultural performance. A series of show takes quite some hours till the closing attraction has ended, so photo session goes playing. We wear modified Indonesia traditional custom seemingly looking casual. And so Japanese student coming up with their even more casual "yukata". Let me guessing tonight flocked by merely "casual traditional costumes", apparent reason since our respective performance will be held by the day of farewell. So here we come as audience.

Back to the point, presentation is mainly time consuming during our stay. Varying notions proposed/presented/questioned by participant at each section starting from 09.15 till 17.00 Malaysian time  for respective next four days.

It has been the edge of the day, day of presentation I mean. Next two days will be excursion, the most waiting moment. Exactly just the same like previous event, we visit Petronas Twin Tower at heart of KL, Berjaya Times Square, and merely I and one of friend cheat the time to hang out to Bukit Bintang by walking since we don't find much thing or to-do-thing here at Berjaya TS.

Time has ended up! Well, compiling up clothes and stuffs into the luggage then departing to KLIA this morning. Lion Air flight JT283 bound from KLIA to Jakarta has ready parked over the apron. Now leaving on the jet plane and say good bye to Malaysia. Next time I may come again for another cities.
